How to Expand Your Business

Written by Katie Conroy

Your business is flourishing, and you’re beginning to wonder if it’s time to expand in some way. This may be a great idea, but you must go through a process to decide how you want to expand and how to go about doing so. Read on for a few ideas about how to most efficiently and effectively expand your business.

Decide Your Direction

Your first step is to decide on a direction for expansion. Perhaps you want to branch out into new products or services. Maybe you want to establish a new location, hire more employees, attract new customers, or market your business in creative ways. Just don’t try to do everything at once! Start with one idea, and see how it works before moving into other areas.

Look for Funding

Remember, too, that expansion requires funding. If you don’t have quite enough in your current operating budget or your savings, consider a small business loan. Read and understand all the terms before you sign anything, though. Also, look for business grants focused on expansion, but be aware that some of them require matching funds or have strings attached.

Hire New Employees

One of your possible expansion options is to hire new employees, especially if your current workers are swamped. Of course, you must make sure new hires are well-qualified and come with good references.

You may consider developing a remote workforce to handle certain roles, such as data entry, writing, or accounting. In that case, you must find some tools to help keep your remote team on track. One possibility is a monthly planner template that shows your employees which tasks need to be accomplished and when. You can customize it with graphics, sticky notes, and videos to help everyone meet their deadlines and get the work done.

Add New Products or Services

You may also think about adding some new products or services. It’s best if these are in line with what your business currently offers to avoid catching your customers off guard and making them wonder what you’re up to. If you normally sell craft supplies, for instance, branching out into medical equipment makes no sense. Start slowly here, and release new products or services gradually, giving your customers time to get used to them and giving you time to see how they sell.

Find New Customers

Another possible expansion for your business may be reaching out to a new group of customers in Boca Raton, FL. If you’ve been mostly interacting with families, for example, perhaps you can try marketing to single adults or senior citizens if your product or service is applicable. You may have to find a new approach, but it may bring in more business.

Market More Creatively

Finally, you can expand your business by marketing more creatively. Think beyond a website and social media, and put out a round of newspaper advertisements or fliers. Develop a promotional event or customer rewards club to keep your customers coming back.

Expand With Confidence

You can expand with confidence if you plan carefully and proceed practically. Your Boca Raton business can flourish. For ideas about how to make customer payment easier, visit the Magic Pay website.
